TONIGHT'S MIGHT-SEE: 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent,' 8-11 p.m., NBC.

The municipal candidate filing period came to a close last Tuesday with a flurry of filings in the last two days. When the deadline for candidates to turn in petitions of candidacy passed there were two races in Booneville, three in Magazine and none in Blue Mountain.

It wasn’t an agenda item for Thursday’s special meeting of the Booneville City Council, but a round of layoffs at Booneville Community Hospital dominated the conversation.

It seems like it was just yesterday the Chicago Blackhawks were hefting the Stanley Cup and handing out bonuses which amounted to a mountain of frequent flyer points for the half of the team they were forced to send packing.[...]
